I'm having trouble with the aluminum water pump housing on my big block.

stock 440 in '67 R/T, with factory a/c. Started putting it all back together with the new Mopar aluminum housing, and the A/C now doesn't fit right. The alum. housing is about 1" taller than the stock cast iron piece, so now the compressor hits the radiator hose just above the filler neck at the top of the pump housing.

So...do I go back to the original pump housing, or could I get an angled t-stat housing and make it work? Anyone else have this issue with this part (aluminum water pump housing?)

Thanks!

JS

I did the same thing on the wife's old
67 Fury 440 car w/ factory AC, very same issues, gave up and ran the cast iron housing. Sorry I don't have a solution for you.

Just curious ...WHY run an expensive light-weight WP housing on something like this?

thought it would look nice, as a dress up item, that's all. No big whoop, we'll switch back to the cast iron housing tomorrow and it'll be all stock. Thanks!

Your car would originally have had a special A/C only stat housing that exited straight toward the passenger side. That`s what`s missing.
