Looking at my block 330-M, I noticed that I have both types of mounts on it. It has the RB ears on it and the bosses for the hemi mount.

One of the RB ears has been ground away for header clearance.

I had previously asked about welding on the block to restore this feature. Just reviewing the block, I also have the cast pads on it but they have not been machined.

Wondering if it would be better to machine the pads rather than welding being that this is a complete long block.

Thoughts?

thanks
kjh

I believe it would be better to machine the pads,
I think welding on the side of a finished block
would try to pull the cylinder out of round.
