I have a 69 Road Runner that I would like to change the vinyl pieces around the gauges and glove box from tan to black. How do I go about doing this? Paint or dye? Thanks,Jay

SEM brand aerosol black vinyl dye is easiest. Get a good brand of vinyl/plastic prep cleaner before you paint. The old parts probably have a done of silicone and contaminants from Armorall...etc after years of use and abuse.

Trisodium phosphate and water with a Scotchbrite does wonders for prep. I did some '68 Charger seats from green to white with that and the SEM. Looked great, and not one fisheye.

SEM has a multi-step process that I have used with success. You first clean the parts with SEM Soap. Then you clean them with SEM Vinyl/Plastic Prep. Then spray on SEM Adheasion Promoter. Then you spray the color on. SEM has all the info on their web site.

After those steps we used our finger nail to try and scratch it and it did not scratch.

The SEM stuff is not cheap but it is the best stuff you can buy.
