I'm looking for a little advice. I'm getting a vibration and it seems like something is loose and hitting the floor board. My mechanic buddy looked underneath and felt that the drive shaft as it goes into the back of the trans was moving up and down to much. It seemed like the driveshaft could be pushed up from a static position approx a half inch. He thought a seal or bearing needed to be replaced in the trans. Any thoughts? This is in my 68 hemi RR. Best regards.

There's a bushing in the tail shaft extension housing. Probably needs to be replaced.

NO movement of the tail housing as it is bolted to the crossmember ?

As is said above .... roger-that - tail-shaft bushing .... but ONE-HALF-INCH movement ? ..... the bushing would have to be totally WIPED OUT .... or missing completely.

Could be U joint and bushin combo also.We had a 67 come in a few years ago that the bushing actually came out.Installed a new one and joint and all was well.Pull the shaft and check the joint and bushing.Rocky

How far does the yoke stick out of the trans? That kind of movement coild be from the driveshaft being too short.
