conv440 OP enthusiast C Joined: Jun 2003 Posts: 350 Hudson Valley	I got a new set of gears for my 8 3/4 rear. My machinist says that the new gears have a fine spline (22) and the original pinion is a coarse spline (10). He recommends that I need a new pinion. Anyone know where to get one?

If so, you will need the 7290 large u-joint fine spline yolk. '69-'70 489 castings originally came with 10 spline pinions. '71-'74 489 castings originally came with 29 spline pinions. Richmond makes 10 spline 489 casting ring and pinions.
