Hey guys I've been talking with Nick Duty at Northstar Dragway in Denton Texas about having a fall Mopar Shootout race. I would like to have it October 17, 2010. Should be good weather and being on a Sunday it will not compete with any local bracket races. Give me some ideas about how you would like the race run, classes, sponsors, payout, entry fees. Any ideas or help would be great. I hope to be able to get a lot of racers to show up and some of the LX groups to come out.

Here is what I'm thinking so far.
Electonics bracket class
Footbrake bracket class
Street bracket class
LX .500 pro tree heads up shootout

What do you guys think and would you support the race?

I'm all for it and know a few others that would show up also. The only thing I recommend is moving to after the season is complete and on a Saturday. It would be tough to make a Sunday race, Denton is about 5 1/2 hours from San Antonio area.

Any time after mid September and I'll try to support it. My race season restarts after mid September. It would be nice to run where the air is good.

Yes a 10.5 heads up race would be nice too! May drag the duster up there if there will be a decent turnout. Keep me posted!

I'm all for it. My mom and dad live in Ponder and it would be awesome for them to get to see my car run. Good ole Denton America! Count me in.

We came to the Mopar race at Denton, I think year before last. The later date is good because it was plenty hot the last race.

It would be nice if buy backs were available which at the time the track did not offer. We towed from Tulsa and would have liked to have been able to buy a second chance after losing traction the first round. The heat contributed to the slick track.

I guess they moved the starting line back several years ago and we had no trouble shutting down. However the skid marks through the fence at the end got our attention!

I would say there is a good chance we would come back.

I have been checking schedules around town to make sure I wouldn't step on anybody's toes. I am now thinking November 13th. The weather should still be very nice with good air and should still be in the 60-70's during the day time. Northstar has become one of the best prepared tracks in DFW recently so there should be no worrys about anything involving the racing surface. I went to Nick because they prep the track great and treat people that come through the gate like family. I will also ask about a second chance race for the first round runner ups.

As long as I can run N/E and Electronics with the same car, I have one I can borrow to race. Need to save money now for entry fees and be sure I am not working.

November is a way better option if you can swing it. i would be there for sure.

Why not do a .400 tree which most people are used to on a pro tree?

Also, yes, Sat in Nov is much better!

Sounds cool...I'll be back late October...Nov13-14th weekend is out of the question for us though...keep us posted,
