I have a 72 satellite with a 318,im going to replace it with a 360 crate motor with 375 HP. will my 904 handle it? or should i replace it with a 727?

if the 904 is beefed up and rebuilt to handle it

a 727 will hold up fine but could benefit from some mods also

you will want a 904 torque converter thats balanced for a 360

or use a B&M fly wheel/flex plat thats for the 360

the 904 will take less HP to run and you can get a lower first gear ratio in it

they can be built to handle it with some $$ into them and the right parts

just a stock one..I dont think so

thanks,i'll see if the local tranny shop can hook me up..also when I bought this car {72 cloned RR}3 months ago,it has a tranny cooler on it and it's not going through the radiator,just the cooler only..thats not enough is it? again thanks for the info!!

it wont take a lot of work to make it live at that level I have a number of 904's with a basic rebuild with stock Raybestos clutch's and bands and a early band servo with no more than a trans-go TF-2 shift kit holding up just fine at that power level.


70 duster full chassis super pro 416 CNC Indybrock heads 727 w/brake

best so far 1.212 60 6.219 in 1/8 at 110.88 9.768 at 137.81 1/4
