After several hot southern Saturdays my multi-layer jacket and pants smell horrible.
I have read the instructions for laundring, but i was wondering how everyone else cleans their stuff..

I have washed mine for years, warm water wash with cold water rinse, and air dry. I never put it in the dryer. Stroud fire suit . No problems and smells better.

I also have a Stroud 2 piece firesuit, I use to wash it by hand with cold water and soap, and let it dry outside, no problem so far.

I was told by the manufacture it was best to wash them in a machine they said dry cleaning kills the fire proofing

Machine wash with a mild detergent like a unscented hypoallergenic detergent . You can machine dry them on the low setting, but I always hung mine out to dry. I'm a volunteer fireman, and we wash our gear the same way. Fighting a fire on a 90° day gets them pretty ripe, and the head sock.... I won't even go there.

All the race gas and fumes from the car covers up the rest of the ugly smells.

I think mine's been washed maybe 3 times since 2000. Cold water, mild soap, then hang dry.

The little women won't let me sit on the couch in the camper with it on.

I put mine on when we leave the trailer for the run and take it off as soon as we get back to the trailer. Never wear it around the pits and look dorky. imo

One time I took one of my older suits to the dry cleaners and they refused to do it.

Like I said I only wear mine for a few minutes at a time and wear plenty of close under it so I don't sweat in it. Mine is a 3 layer suit too. My current suit cost close to 2 grand, it's 5 years old and has never been washed.
