I have a friend that is attempting to replace his fusable link on his cordoba with a traditonal in line aftermarket fuse. My questions what size of fuse should he run?? I have no idea what the factory inline fuse was rated for. Thanks!

that wont work, the fusable leak is designed to allow a brief spike, a regular fuse will not.

The alternator on a Cordoba is either 78 or 100 amps... a lot more than a regular fuse holder can handle.

NAPA or an auto-electrical shop should have the fusible link. #12 should be about right. Solder in a few inches, shrink wrap or tape and he's good to go as long as whetever blew it in the first place is fixed.

With a fuse everytime he hits the starter it will blow. Fusible links are there for a reason.

eeehm, not... the starter motor power doesn't go by the fuse link... just the signal to activate the starter relay, which barelly sucks power.

I would say more like #14, Depending if it has relays upgrades attached at battery or not. If not, 14 should be enough. If yes ( what BTW is wrong on ammeter design cars ) #12 is better.

#16 were on 60 amps car as much

I'm sure it's not correct, but just replaced a buddies with a 30 amp fuseholder as a temp. fix and seems to be working okay. His ammeter is inop due to battery in trunk, so that maybe why it's still alive!
