A couple of months ago, I was posting every other day with questions on my 727 rebuild (my first, by the way).

Fast forward to today, when I received my Bouchillon kickdown kit and installed it, shortly followed by my first jaunt through the neighborhood streets.

1-2 and 2-3 shift comes in very hard, jostling the vehicle. It's not as prevalent if I'm accelerating harder, but still very much not right.

My question is, what could be causing this issue? Is it something that is most likely going to require me pulling the trans apart again. Let me know now so I can open the window and climb out on my roof....

Additionally, I added the TF SC shift kit from Transgo during the rebuild and got all of my parts and tech advice from John Cope at CRT.

Thanks,

Pat

Interesting question. Having a speedometer installed might help me answer it

I'd "guess" second shift comes in around 8-12 mph, 3rd shift comes in around 18-20 mph?

Is it a hard shift or is it a shift overlap?? Overlap is common & cause the vehicle to feel like it's monmentarily slowing down.... (Because it does)

give John a call and walk thru it with him again

sounds like its shifting at the right speed by the guess of speed and light throttle

did the shift kit have you up the line pressure?

how are you gonna work on the truck if you are on the roof

Maybe I can quickly throw a wrench or two at it as I'm falling by...

lot of good that will do Pat

after you land you will need to go and get those wrenches cause you missed the truck

I prefer to lay under the truck and have it roll off the ramps and use myself as a wheel chock

sorry for no help on it,just have to razz you a little bit

like I said, give John a call back on Monday

A positive note:

Got under there and noticed the new kickdown linkage from Bouchillon was pulling back about 1/2" on the throttle valve pressure arm when at idle- way too tight.

Adjusted the bracket and the hard shifts have disappeared, as have the regular shifts. Wouldn't leave 1st.

Adjusted it toward the middle and it SEEMS like it might be happy. I can't take it out of the neighborhood though, which means I can't get it over 20mph to find out.
