I picked up an 800dp 4780-2 in decent shape, choke towers been milled, still retains the original metering blocks, right now i'm running a 650dp with the choke tower milled, plus i blended the bottoms of the MB so it matches up with the 1.11/16" base, i'm sure its flowing around 700 cfm, how many of you feel the 800dp will be too much for this combo, i've already ran the car last week, ran 12.5s with timing at 30*, here is the combo.

71 swinger, no PS/PBs or AC, race weight un-known.

95 360 magnum, stock short block with some miles on it.
RHS magnum heads (baseline) from hughes.
re-ground factory cam from bullet, .477/.477, .218/.218 @50 with factory 1.6 rockers, Crosswind RPM, 650dp (70/76 jets), summit headers, summit turbos, 2.1/4" exhaust.
904 with cheetah VB, PTC 11" 2800, spooled 3.73s, 255/60/15 MTs, its pulling 17 inches vacuum with timing at 30*, my shift points are 5200. So should i drop on the 800dp , i drive this car 50 miles to the track, so i don't want to be changing carbs out there, just curious what some think.

everyone seems to think the 360's like a larger carb, but the 650 is spot on when using a common formula. I say stick with the 650. If you can swap it at the track, maybe.

I would change it at the track to see if the car likes it. That is if you want the carb on that goes the fastest. Ron

650 should be perfect with the right tuning.

car seems to run well as it. take it with you and make a pass. I ran a 750hp on a mild 340 and it ran killer. It's all in the tune.

Found that a 650dp will go as fast as a tricked out 750. and found the 800 dp too much regardless of jets on a 360 with similar cam specs. Keep the jetting in 69-70 area Frt and no more then 77 rear to start do not over jet.all will depend on launch speed conv etc

Yeah, i just found out the 800 is too much, its even too fat in the idle curcuit, i've always been a fan of big carbs, but now after giving a small one a try i'm convinced, way too many of us over carb there engines (includeing me) & don't even realize it, with a smaller carb, there easier to tune, plugs stay cleaner & they work just as well, if not better.

My direction at this point will be working on the 60ft. & timing.
