1009 Fel Pro has been the gold std
some heads ( early Stealths ) may have chambers that do not match well--I think that is all internet chatter--I have one of the FIRST sets running all this time with the dreaded chamber overhang and oh well..the engine don't know it is supposed to fail so it keeps running--The CHEAPO units that were always available from ROL are now the new go to deal--they were always the brand sold by the cheapo kit houses until they finally got "cool"---the 1009's have an o ring built in the gasket and so they seal great on 99% of applications ---just about any ever made will do good with stock iron heads ---buy any, put them on and just don't read the chat--oh wait this is chat...

More like .041 compressed.

If this is a stock engine I would use a set of spray on copper coated steel shims .

Thanks for all the info! My heads are stock 906's and I just need something that will seal nicely without any issues.
This all started out with a couple of broken exhaust manifold studs... both on the #7 cylinder Of course the head had to come off to get access to those studs... and of course, with ONE head off a motor that's never been rebuilt, BOTH heads should come off and go into the machine shop for a complete rebuild while I'm at it.

The car ('69 GTX) has 112,000 miles on it and it was nice to see that the bore was standard with only the slightest ridge wear.

Get a set of the steel shim head gaskets. Any other gasket is going to lower your compression ratio slightly.
