My '03 Ram 2500 w/5.7l engine starts right up but idels like it has a nasty "cam" in it (it's stock)I got a "bad O2 sensor" code off a scanner and have performed the following. I have replaced all 16 spark plugs, 2 coil packs(rotting off) and replaced both the upstream and downstream sensors. My state inspection is due this month and it's getting exspensive. Someone told me there is a "software" fix for this condition. Has anyone ever heard of this? If so I would apprecitate some advise before I send it to the dealer. Thanks.

I don't see any TSB's for that condition. I can't say that I've ever ran into this before and I doubt that a flash, software upgrade, etc. will do anything to change it

But everyone I've seen break a valve spring would not idle period. And it was more like poorly designed valve springs because they all (more than just 03) where crap until the new ones went in.

the only valve springs i have seen break are the ones that do not have the dampner on the outside of it.

i have seen some idle with a "miss" you could tell it was not right.

and those that i have seen did not have any valve train clatter
