Does anyone make an affordable octane tester? I run Sonoco Ultra94, now they sell it as Ultra93 and there was a Sunoco station on the news last week that got caught using 89 octane in their 94 octane tank. Makes me nervous , I'd be pretty ticked off if I detonated a motor cuz of this.

wow, i guess i never had a reason to look for an octane tester before. the cheapest i saw was $2500, up to $10,000.
might be cheaper to buy a brand that you can trust maybe rocket brand or vp.

you will pay more, or take the risk

you have never had a problem before maybe you never will have a problem.

one more thing, 89 octane is a mixture of 87 and 93 it gets mixed as it is pumped. you can ask and gas station owner and they will tell you there are only two grades in there tank and the middle grade is a mixture of the two.
