I got a SB B&M 727 from a guy, yet do not know the history, and either did he. Should I keep it and get it tested by a shop, or get rid of it?
The fluid did not look to bad when I took it, and did not smell all burnt.

thanks!

Some years back, I got the impression that as other race trans shops started to proliferate, B&M kind of pulled back into mostly RVs & towing, but I could be wrong.
Back in the day ('50s - "70s or so) they were hot stuff. I guess the question is which type of trans is it, and does their website have any info on what's inside?
A used trans IMO should always be looked through, if only for peace of mind.

Even though B&M was a major player in years past there's no telling what's been done to it in the intervening years; treat it as a rebuildable core with fancy decals.
