I have to pull my tranny to have it rebuilt so I decided to replace the stock flywheel with something a little stronger.

I have a blow proof bell housing but I want to be as safe as possible.

I want something good for street duty.

Any suggestions on what brand to get? I running a Centerforce clutch.

Thanks Brett

PRW has a nice 20 lb steel flywheel that is fairly inexpensive. Hughes Engines can get it for you.

Thanks I'll check that out.

What is the stock flywheel weigh?

I've been out of the car scene for a few years. I'm a little rusty. lol

Are you asking about a clutch pressure plate or a flywheel? I think the 130 tooth SB factory steel flywheels weighed right at 30 lbs, the bigger 143 teeth where near 38 lbs, if my memory sis serving me close to accurate. maybe one of the current stick shift guru will chime in with more current information weights I haven't raced a stick shift car in over 30 yrs

If memory serves correct I say Cab is spot on. Although the flywheels can be get in multiple weights. I believe my last McLeod steel flywheel 143teeth was 30lbs which ran fine in my streetcar. Had it combined with a CF dual friction setup which didn't hold up the power / weight.

Now that the same engine is put into my race backed up with a GForce stick I went with a custom setup. Build by Advanced Clutches with a total weight of the flywheel AND clutch assembly of around 18lbs. Runs and sounds completely different now. Just don't know how that holds up to streetuse...

As said maybe one of the gurus will chime in. I'm nowhere near a guru destroying all kind of parts every time...
