trying to figure this out. have power there, running lights work fine on both the tail lights and the quarter panel light. thought it was the bulbs, as the little nubs were pretty worn down, but with new bulbs it is the same. every once in a while they work, but most of the time they don't. left works fine.
what is the best way to diagnose this? hard to imagine that the wires to both bulbs are faulty.
year one has new harnesses for $136, not bad, and from what i understand the guys who make them for year one do a really nice job.
any ideas?
thanks...

Sounds like it is loosing the ground
but wouldn't it be the same ground for running as well as brake lights?

Power is fed through -believe it or not- the turn signal switch.Time, age and wear on it can cause trouble back there. Just a thought.Check out everything at the rear first. If you cannot find anything wrong back there, trace the wires back to the TS switch. Clean the connections of the rear wire harness at the left kickpanel. The TS switch's contacts may simply need to be cleaned. This requires removing the steering wheel. Hope this helps.

yup, just saw this in the wiring diagram, and again, believe it or not, it is also routed through the emergency flasher!
looks like i need to take the steering wheel off and clean that.
where is that wiring harness? left kick panel, do you mean under the dash?

There is a multi pin plastic connector that connects the dash wiring to the body wiring located behind the left plastic trim cover panel behind the parking brake pedal. Try cleaning the contacts there. You may need a new turn signal switch if that does not help...
