I was wandering what a 1968 factory 440 4spd AVS carb flowed for cfm. Thanks

, they were rated a bit lower than you would expect. They were emissions carbs designed for street use rather than full blown HP use.

In 68 they were not real concerned with emmisions, a PCV valve was the only significant thing, mabey an extra vent line here or there. The AVS was just a step forward with the AFB carb desighn. They flowed around 600 cfm depending on whos bench you beleive.

440 375HP had a carter rated at 750cfm , the 350HP engine had the 625 .

If it has smaller primaries it's 625cfm & it all 4 throats are the same size it's 750cfm

I'm thinking the 625/750 are listed cfm's and someone had posted that they dont actually flow near that high but I am not positive is that info is correct

The literature handed out at the old Performance Clinics had pretty low numbers compared to what everybody thinks they are, 383/440HP were 585/635.
