From The AutoInstruments.com website

"The Mopar factory tachs will not work with modern electronic ignition systems. We can modify your tach and replace the meter and board with modern components for $275. The tach will then work with any modern electronic ignition system."

I tried replacing a few things in mine way back when. It worked and blew out after 20 minutes. I left it alone and eventually replaced it with a quartz clock

I used a MSD-6 box with the adaptor for the tach. I hooked it up per the directions and it worked fine.

did you use any additional wiring besides connecting the red and white wires respectively? or did you add an extra wire for the ignition coil?

I still have the msd tach adapter on my charger. I never removed it after the tach burned out. Maybe it was just bad timing on the side of the tic-toc-tac lifeterm
