Nice pic of T.J. Diekema and Logan Wernet's 62 Sport Fury at Madison this weekend. Car is utterly cool and runs tens.

Such a cool car. I was 9 when it was produced. I often think of the mentality of the engineers, and how even that long ago, there was an acrued bank of real track feedback to tweek the program. I approve.

I went to Iowa State with one of those Diekema's I believe. John Diekema, IIRC. He was a Manufacturing Engineer. Was working on project for his/thier car.

His brother or a relative ran a 396 Super Stock Chevelle?

I'd be suprised if Jerry Bennett isn't there with his 62, it is a really nice car

Too bad they are mostly over looked in the mopar hobby...
I've always thought it was a great "package car" and up there with max wedges and race Hemis. I think I've got some Chrysler paper work hidden away here somewhere..

The 343hp option was a 383 equipped with two 4 bbl.....Carters. In the late 60's there were a lot of 343 wagons in stock eliminator.

Thanks for the great post Billy. The seats and console complaint was several years ago, they were fixed. No issues this year. Jerry was not there but we wish he would have been, I would like to see that car in person. John Diekema is an ISU grad and has helped his brother TJ and I alot with the car. He has a stocker Nova and his wife has SS Chevelle.

Kind of off topic, but a friend of mine says he ran a '62 or '63 Dodge in D/S back in 1969 with a RB 383 with a crossram. I'm pretty sure the 343HP 383 had inline carbs. He swears it was a crossram. I've never heard of such a combo. I would think if NHRA let it run, then Chrysler must have made them. I think his memory must have faded myself, but I wouldn't call him a liar. Maybe the onset of old timer's disease?

Say Hi to John. I don't know if he'd remember me, but he'd remember my 68 Barracuda 340-S with California plates. I think he drove it once.

Wonder where my white/blue 67 Chevy 100 post "little old lady from Santa Monica" car is. John might remember that from ISU. Sold to a Dennis Slaymaker in Spencer Iowa in 1997.

Theres a White 62 Dodge thats just been completed here in Division One. I don`t think its a 383 though as it runs A/SA. Its owned by Red Goldstein a local Mopar legend from Long Island N.Y. He`s been around a long time and knows how to make Mopars fly!

Red Goldstein drove for the Ed Hamburger team back in the day, the Challenger and one of the Stocker Dusters. Nice guy.
An RB 383 is a '59-only Chrysler engine, I think, but would certainly not be legal in Stock for a '62 or '63 B-body.

There was a '62 Dodge.."That Brown Dodge" here in the midwest. My memory is getting foggy but I think it was Sam Brown
