1966 Dodge Coronet,318-2.Carter 2 barrel bbd series I believe.Took the carb off as I was doing some work on the motor.Figured while it was off I would clean and put new upper and lower gaskets on the carb.Well the shop where I went friday was closed, but thats another rant,so I figured I would put the carb back together just to get the car running and would go get my gaskets this week....Well as I was cranking the motor after a few seconds gas came out thru the acc.pump opening and thru the top of the carb and the middle section where the top bowl meets the middle. If I pump the acc.pump gas shoots thru the jets. Now when the carb was apart 2 things,Does the little ball bearing go in the bowl that the acc.pump sits in and not sure if this part came out or was just sitting on my bench.... Here is a pic of the carb and the part.It looks like a little metal clip.

Also, where can I find a detailed parts pic of the carb

the detail in my "glenns" was not as good as I was expecting. It shows a check ball (bearing) will go into the "discharge passage" which appears to be a round passage close to an unnamed square passage and I'm thinking there also needs to be the ball in the bottom of the well as iirc theres a hole in the center depression at the bottom of the well. Trying to ID the clip also but no luck so far. EDIT been trying to remember if there was 2 check balls as it's been ~30yrs since I last did a carter BBD and I remember having to decide which bearings went where and I think the one in the round passage on the deck I referred to the ball pretty much filled it up though it sat down in there a bit and the smaller one went in the well.

My SA Carter Carb book only has 4 barrels, but are you sure the float is set up correctly? Turn the top over next time its off and blow through the fuel inlet. I think the float adjustment should be around 9/32.

The "horseshoe"clip sounds like one on my flathead 6 carter and it holds the pivot pin for the float down on my carb
