hey all,

I have very limited knowledge on auto repair, however i was going to attempt to fix my malfunctioning fuel gauge.

This thing will occasionally respond and the needle will go up , usually not all the way but even with a full tank, but at least like halfway or so, sometimes the thing doesnt respond at all.

The dash cluster is a little loose because one of the mounting bracket sites is busted off. A few times i was able to jostle the whole cluster and magically the gauge would perk up again.

Any ideas as to where i should start looking for this. I dont have a lift and dont know if you need to drop the tank to check the ground on the sending unit etc.

Is there a ground site on the cluster itself i should look for to see if the cluster is properly grounded???

any ideas on where to start with this gauge would be awesome, thanks.

The screws that hold the cluster to the dash are the grounds. You can run another ground and it would help.

any suggestion as to where to attach a ground wire on the cluster and then somewhere to ground on the frame or body or whatever?

thanks for the advice

Anywhere on the dash that is easy to get to and won't get in the way of anything. Even can use a bolt on your steering column under the dash. I believe there already may be some grd. wires there.
