What were these starters; like the ones that came with the old cast-iron PB torqueflite? From the pictures, they look like a Delco, but I'm guessing Autolite? Will a late model mopar starter fit in it's place? If not, where can I find one of these starters? Thanks in advance.

My 57 was Prestolite.I see them on the bay from time to time.I doubt new will fit as the cranks on early were longer.Rocky

Yep , they`re prestolite direct drive units similar to the ones used on `66 to `69 four speed street hemis and heavy duty standard shift slant six applications. you will probably have to get yours rebuilt. I have some cores if you need one.

Well, what I have is a late model ring gear and an early model bellhousing for a test stand. The bellhousing bolts right up to the block, but the b/p for the starter looks a bit different; just wondering what I could get away with.
