I have one of the Aluminum Moroso Deep transmission pans and when I filled the trans this winter I added till I got to the correct markings on my stock dipstick with the transmission in neutral and warmed up to temp. I now have a leak out of the back of the housing right where the driveshaft enters. It slings some fluid on the floorpan and drips a little after every pass. I have also noticed some on the floor of the trailer and at home in the garage. After I clean it up it does not drip again till I run it. The tranns gaskets were all replaced on the rebuild over the winter. If I am say 1 quart over fill will this cause it to leak like this or should I just pull the drive shaft and replace the gasket again? Thanks Mike

If you put the level to the dip stick again... its at the correct level(deep pans hold more but thats below the full line on the stick so you still fill to the full line).... change the seal on the tail shaft

I run my trannys with deep pans intentionally low, (so when I hit it at the track it doesn,t flood the tailshaft housing and the rear seal. I run mine from just on the bottom of the dip stick to right at the add one pint mark when warmed up, no troubles in over thirty years of doing that BTW, I have one all out state of tha art(at one time )race trans that has a B&M aluminum deep pan that has a slosh baffle welded into the rear of the pan to prevent flooding the tailshaft housing under acceleration

I run the stamped steel deep pan on mine(no baffle) and I launch fairly decent off the trans brake and its never leaked(anywhere)

The last 2 post is what I would look at, bushing, seal and end of the yoke, most people don't know that there's a plug that some times leak by the joint. Also when you have it apart inspect the yoke for damage caused by the seal.
it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

Mike .... SOME of the baffling I have seen in the pans are very sloppy. You have to seal it well to the sides of the pan AND extend it out to the filter extension AND beyond.
About a year ago ....I saw a listing on eBay for a B&M(IIRC) cast alum pan A N D a WINDAGE TRAY ... that only allowed drain-back and slosh possible from the FRONT of the sump.
A good bushing(EZ to check) and seal are important ... but FLOODING the bushing and seal can be an issue tooooo.

I don't have a picture of it, it is on the trans and I don't want to remove for a picture. It is a piece of aluminum (probally 1/8 or so thick) formed to fit the back side(rear) of the pan all the way around and it is two to three inches wide from front to back. It is weleded to the top edge of the pan, not on the top rail or flange , just below the rail
thanks cab. that was what i was thinking it might be. your explaination needs no pic. docfiberglass, i never seen[or really heard of] a baffeled trans pan before. kinda makes sense it could help keep the tailshaft sloshing in check. was the egag pans of any quality to speak of ?

A good tail shaft bushing and seal are the key.
What he said! Replace the tail housing bushing and seal. Also check the plug in the back of the slip yoke. Might be leaking there.
