I decided not to use a hydraulic throwout bearing not only because they are expensive but since any leak or failure requires pulling the transmission.

So now I have a clutch fork sticking out the side of my Lakewood bellhousing. I still plan to use a hydraulic linkage to eliminate the Z-bar issues.

There is not a lot of room with the Hedman B-body headers for a push-type slave cylinder (and it would be above and close to one tube entering the collector). Would heat be a problem because of this? I could use a "pull" cylinder and mount it somewhere on the 833. Any ?
thanks.

Push will give you more force since you are allowed the full diameter of the piston for the fluid to act on. if you need the extra force it may be important. the pull side of a cylinder will give you less force because the rod coming out of the center of the piston. this setup will work and has worked in a lot of cars, but if you have a heavy clutch you may need a small bore master to get your pressure up.

You are doing exactly to yours what I'm doing to mine. I've got a wilwood master cyl for the clutch and a wilwood pull style slave cyl. Member goldduster318 turned me on to this idea. His first attempt to bolted the pull style slave to his transmission side cover bolts, but this created a leak over time. I will be making a bracket and attaching the slave to the body. It will be able to pivot so a little bit of motion will be tolerated.

Interesting... hadn't thought of pulling against the body. With a front plate there won't be much relative motion.

I wonder why the side cover leaked? I was thinking of mounting it that way too... I wonder if using studs (for the one or two side cover locations where the slave cylinder bracket mounts) would eliminate that problem?
