I've got a 5.9 magnum 360 with a Milodin stock replacement LA 360 oil pan (#30755) and I'm having some issues with the oil pan gasket rear seal.

When mocking up the rear gasket seal to either the oil pan or on the main cap, its seems as if the seal is just too big! I just happen to have two different oil pan gaskets (milodin 40655) and one that came with a Mr Gasket Cam Swap gasket kit. Both are identical and have the same issue.

Below is a pic of a the rear seal mocked up on the oil pan to show the huge gaps.

I couldn't take a pic of it on the main cap but with the seal installed (inserted into the notches, if you hold it in place with one hand and run your fingers across the seal you can see and feel that its too big.

I feel like I'm just missing something completely obvious...am I? I first thought maybe the pan was the problem but then realized that it couldn't be the issue because its too big for the main cap too.

Any ideas?

I used a stock LA 360 gasket set for the pan and it worked fine.
don't remember a problem like that.

sorry, no idea other than you got the wrong gaskets?

Well I had thought that at first but I have two different gasket sets from two different manufacturers and they are both too long?

Do you have a 318/340 gasket by mistake?

I'm starting to think I might...

The mr gasket cam swap gasket kit is labeled for a 340/360 engine (came with two front oil pan seals, side rails and one rear seal).

But the milodin kit was only listed for a 360...

With the 360 pan you need the 360 LA gasket....from the photo, it seems like you have the front seal at the rear..........
Got the same set up..

Dan

BTW.....340 and 360 do not share the same pan gasket and seal!!

the front oil pan seal is the same between a 318/340/360, and it interfaces with the bottom of the t-chain cover...
