I have a 67 Dart that I am converting over to front disc brakes. I have upper control arms and spindles from a 73 Duster. My question is which lower ball joint do I use. The parts places around here list 2 different ones. One for front drum brakes and another for front disc brakes. I am not sure which to use because of the conversion. I would assume the disc ones but I am not sure. The front end on this thing is going to cost me a small fortune to rebuild because it is an oddball year. And now this.

(1) that one (2) might checkout rock auto/Summitt/mancini & see if you can get a better deal & I would highly recommend Moog ball joints/tie rod end and get the offsett UCA bushings (the 4 small ones 2 per side)

Are you going w rubber or poly (LCA bushings 1 per side). Not sure myself as I've heard pros/cons for both

I meant o type lower ball joints, but to answer your question, I am going to use poly because I had to order new pivot shafts because one of the old ones had a bushing go bad and it ruined the pivot shaft. I had to order a pivot shaft for poly bushing because they don't make one for the rubber bushings anymore. There is a difference in diameter of the two shafts.

Keeping it all manual, using a 85 model disc/drum mastercylinder.

I had no idea they were different (A body) & thought that you just had to chose which type you wanted to go with. I just went and checked the rubber ones that came in a kit I bought plus I have some extra tapered LCA shafts and the metal bushing inside the rubber ones is the same dia as the seperate shafts I have. Is that what you have? EDIT just measured one (the extra shafts) & .942" OD

I bought a new set of pivot shafts from americanmuscle.biz they are the only ones I know of that produce new pivot shafts, and they told me that they no longer make the origianl diameter shaft for rubber bushings they only make one for poly bushings. I never measured the new ones before I had them installed. Best I remember he said the poly shafts are larger.

Thank you for the enlightenment as I had no idea that I have to reuse my originals. I had these extra shafts in w the new kit that I got elsewhere and I had (until an hour ago)assumed that I could mate them .

When you wrote that you have a small fortune in this front end job, what exactly did you mean? The only thing oddball about the 67 is the idler arm right? The rest of the stuff is standard 68-72. Maybe its too late for you, but next time, it really is cheaper to get a complete kit in one shot and align it once.

I was just curious. I have a 67 dart GT and I rebuilt mine back in 2005. I updated everything with 73-76 stuff: Idler, center link, pitman arm and all the other stuff. I put a 74 V8 K mamber in too. Originality wasn't an issue for me, I just wanted the most durable stuff Ma Mopar made. Turns out the bushings and tie rod kit was cheaper too. Yeaaah!
