I have 69 RR that originally came with a White top
The top was dyed Black.

The top is in really good condition and I am considering re-dying the top back to white.

Has anyone out there attempted this?
Any tips

Is this a bad idea?

Thanks
Matt

I think it is a GREAT idea! Why waste a good vinyl top??? A vinyl top sees very little wear.

As far as tips, pick your choice of dye and follow the directions to a "T"

I think I used "Marhyde" in 1984 on my top. At the time, I found a new tan top for my car and on it went. Sprayed it black and it still looks new today. I did use flattening agent so that it would not be so shiny and was/am happy with the result

I did this 20+ years ago to a vinyl top. It was fairly dried out and porous and sucked up the dye. Really brought life back into it. It was originally grey and very dirty, stained and I went with white dye. No bleed through, covered great. Had the car for years without any problems, fading, etc. I can only assume the products available today are better? Good luck.
