I have found the instructions for changing the speedo pinion gear for later model 727s in the tech archives however the 64 style is significantly different. From the outside there appears to be no adjustment; is that correct? This cant be as the diameter has to be different with the different numbers of teeth right?

I have promised myself that this will be the first and last pre 1965 mopar I ever own! It seems like everything is just a little different making it harder to work with, harder to find parts for, and just plain more expensive...

Yes - it is way diff than the later trans. The later trans has a far greater selection of pinions.

With this trans .. you just plug-it-in and go.

that is correct. there is no adjustment.
it is clipped on inside and very little to chose from if you need to change. Actually good luck in finding any of them, or a way to figure out which one you need.

Don't give up on a 64 Plymouth...I own a 64 Belvedere 426S, 4speed and I won't be trading it or selling it unless I downsize my herd.
