Best of luck with the surgery. When we were in our 20's, my friends and I would move around and carry engines, blocks , heads, cranks whatever by hand and never think twice about it.
Fast forward to the present, now I'm 46 and whenever those type of things need to be moved it's done via my John Deere and it's bucket
Et tu ? My personal best / worst was a 429 Ford short block from the back of the pick up to the engine stand. I'm surprised I didn't leave body parts laying on the ground. Why does it take 40 years to realize that we have been tool users since the stone hammer ? I am 52 now , and these days , the limit of what I will lift and carry is a lot closer to UPS's. Unless there is an "S" on your chest , throwing engine blocks around is not a good idea. But 6-8 weeks ain't all bad when you consider the recovery from a blown out disc or shoulder. I don't mean to say you got off cheap.........but you kind of did. Best of luck with the recovery and next time , sub the job out to some neighborhood kids.
