I went to put new brake lines on my Challenger and they don't seem to line up right. Here is a couple of photos. None of the fittings seem to be the right size and the bends on the part going to the mc aren't close. I am going by memory somewhat on where everything goes - am I thinking right?

you can bend 3/16" brake lines by hand wo kinking if they're the regular parts house ones that are not hardened material. See if reducer bushings are available from Earls etc or cut reflare your ends

They are stainless from one of the usual suppliers (not going to bash them unless they refuse to make it right) and the car is a 73 Challenger. I though I had most of it correct, but I just wanted to be sure. I know that they usually require a little tweaking, but I don't want to mess with re-flaring when I paid to have them be correct. Thanks for your help everyone. I just sent the pics off to the supplier.

Your MC in your picture is not stock, maybe that's where the confusion comes in.

And those old/cut lines are bent by hand... there not stock or original.
Get a stock MC and I bet everything fits.

Yeah, but the lines are the stock ones and they worked fine when I converted to the non-power brakes. I do remember doing a little bending to get them to line up. I didn't tell the company that it was manual brakes either.

Well I'm sure it would matter if it's power or not as far as brake lines.

How can you tell they are not stock? My brother or myself have owned this car since 1990 or so and we never replaced them. I think the one line would work, but the short one is way too short even for a stock setup especially power as it would raise it another couple inches.

To clarify even though I will be using manual brakes I told them it was power brakes as I knew the lines on it worked before.

Your never bend stainless, after it's bent like that.

Should have told them exactly what your using parts wise, so they can make the right lines for you.

Like what the other guys said, you can make those easy with reg steel brake lines from the auto parts store, plus then they will seal.

Tip on the stainless lines, lub the fittings well so you can really get them tight, cause there gonna need to be really tight to seal. Stainless is hard.
Good luck with it.

Because the master cylinder is not stock.

Hmmm never thought about not being able to bend the stainless. I just knew I had done it before. The first one I tried to hook up was the passenger side line and the fitting was too large, but I did have to rebend it a couple of inches by hand so it lined up with the port. And I am not changing master cylinders - I spent about 15 - 20 hours polishing an aluminum one like the one above!

I hear ya! I bet if you tell them which MC your using, they could make em.

I know it sucks having those nice stainless lines and can't use em. Maybe they would take em back if you didn't install them or bend em.

Don't blame the line manufacturer. That is not the correct master for the car. The old lines you have pictured are hand bent not orignal. Why don't you use the correct master?

Because he has "15-20 hours" polishing his aluminum MC.

The car had power brakes when I got it and those are the lines (I think they are original) that were on it then so they did work with the original master. If you look at the pictures, I think one of the lines would work for MC to proportioning valve, but one is way to short and looks like it would go into the top of the proportioning valve rather than the side as shown in the comparison pic of the old and new lines. So the problem I have is one line from the MC to proportioning valve and the fittings from the front brake lines and the rear brake lines are incorrect that go from the proportioning valve to the wheels. That would not be affected by what master I use.

When I converted my 65 Cuda to discs I used the same style MC you have, no original or stock for either of our rides. I used the brake lines and prop valve off a Diplomat and tweaked the lines to fit. Which is probably similar to what whomever did your swap did.

You probably ordered stock lines for your vehicle, which as you found out are not even close to being what you need.
