Hey everybody, especially chrysler techs,

our '06 caravan has developed a little problem. the driver's side power sliding door, when you hit the button, opens up about 3" and then stops, and you have to manually open it the rest of the way. if it's all the way open, it closes to about the same spot and then stops. manually, it works fine. any ideas on where to start? I'm assuming there's some sort of sensor that is out of adjustment?

any help is appreciated.

Go to the dealer parts counter and buy an the harness that goes from the b pillar to the door. You have a broken wire in the harness. Seen alot of them. The wire breaks in the harness and intermittanly makes contact.

is that the harness that's in the plastic chain at the bottom of the door?

Its very easy to change also. Should be able to do it in less than 30 mins. Also when you manualy open and close the door and it feels hard to move, the clutch in the motor is stuck. If that is a concern also, the motor will need repalced. Most dont worry about it.

nope, door opens and closes smoothly.

would happen intermittently, but with greater frequency for the past few weeks. this weekend I hit some of the moving parts with some spray lube, it worked the first time, but no other time after that.

my dad has an '03 FSM and he looked it up later that afternoon and it said not to use any lube, so I cleaned it all off with some CRC electronic cleaner, still stopped after about 3". He said that the manual says the body computer may throw a code to help diagnose it, but I don't have access to a scantool, and wasn't sure if the free autozone scan would pick up codes from the body computer.

I agree harness time, super easy to change even for the non skilled

and I've fixed a ton of the hard to move motors just by taking them apart and clean them out and relube

I pulled the harness out, and took it out of the chain looking flexible conduit. one of the wires had an obvious break. 5 minutes and a crimp connector fixed it without a hitch. if the crimp connector doesn't hold, I'll cut the wire beyond the flexing portion of the harness and replace the whole section. Door works great now. thanks for the advice!
