hi
i have ben running stock but .30 over 66 440 with the stock 516 heads for a while know. im on the hunt for something in the range of 500 horse and would like to do a edelbrock top end kit.

but the problem is the compression ratio. before i pull it apart i want to be shure i will still have decent compresson ratio. ive heard the 516 heads are 78 cc's. can anyone comfirm this? the edeys are 84 cc's. this will drop my compression ratio. dont know how much. the machine shop that built the engine says it currently has 9.5:1 compression. and if i rember correctly the heads cc'd at over 80cc's.

the motor was built 4 years ago so im very rusty on the exact specs other than its has stock 66 pistion hight .30 over, with 516 heads. what kind of compression would i have with the edys?

i need to avoid changing pistons due to buget. im only 21.

thanks
nick

Closed chambers typically CC over 80, the gain in flow (about 50 horse with a mild cam) will more than offset the loss in compression.

Now I need to pin those needles, got to feel that heat
Hear my motor screamin while I'm tearin up the street

easy mill eddys 20-40 thou to get cc you want or more compression. with 38-9 thou felpro and ajustable rockers will be fine. should be night and day from 516 heads unless heavily worked iron heads on there now. if this makes any sence had 11.5to1 trw pistons in 440, with worked/milled 906 heads 80cc felpro gaskets. did o.f.t.b. eddys large camber think was 88cc with no milling lost 3/4 point plus comp and car went 3 plus tenths faster in 1/8, lost comp and still major gains over stock heads. redoing motor now with much better parts eagle rods, ross 12.5 pistons ect..should make wicked power with stock stroke 440 thinking now 7.01 to 6.660 in 1/8 very happy with eddy heads

MOPAR OR NO CAR

My two sets of 915's are about 78cc with new, but stock size valves and a clean-up cut.
