Without running antifreeze and just straight water will just turn the water rusty brown. What are some of you guys running in your water as a rust inhibitor and lubrication? -Thanks for any suggestions.

I put Water Wetter in mine. First season without antifreeze so I can't give you any feed back yet.

I drain mine after every event . Never store an engine with water in it. Or antifreeze for that matter.

Gas is fer washin' parts ....Alky`s fer drinkin' ...Nitro`s fer Racin'!

Water Wetter... or you can use water soluble oil but
you need some lube in there for the pump instead of
straight water

Alum. block, heads, water pump, radiator = NO RUST.

Just jerking your chain a little. I use Royal Purple, except at Vegas where they don't allow anything but straight water!

Justice Brothers makes a Cooling System Protector and a Radiator Cooler. I used the Protector for years, it does a good job of preventing rust.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

after ruining a $25,000 motor a few years back running only water in november. it was 67 degrees that day that night it dropped to 10 degrees and cracked my block, ruined my motor, i'll run a little antifreeze all year long.just to play it safe.

Not a lot, just enough to keep it from freezing or rusting. Sometimes here in the spring and fall, we race in 60*-70* weather, but by the next morning it can be below freezing. I don't like to drain it because air causes rust and seal dry-out quicker than staight water, plus its so hard to get all the air out of the system.

I run water wetter and distilled water, just drained the system when I pulled the motor out and it was damn near clear after two seasons: iron block alum heads

I have always wondered about water pump lube? What does it lubricate? Isn't the bearing sealed?

I'm trying the pink RV antifreeze w/anti rust additive and water wetter. The RV anti freeze isnt slick like regular anti freeze and its basically clear when mixed. So far its worked fine.

I thought the same thing... but when I built 1 of my
engines with a electric pump I didnt have anything
but water in it... first day at the track the pump
seized ... was told to run the WW for lube... put
it in and turned the pump with a allen wrench to
break it free and havent had a problem since
