I am again seeing the some trash talking about a particular shops Dyno numbers. It is obvious that the numbers posted from the Dyno are not to this groups liking, so enlighten me before I get there on what settings should be made to accomodate you group? Is there a correction factor? What should it be, enquiring minds want to know.
But, is it trash talking if its true? Even METAL STORM admits that the Koffel dyno is happy to the tune of around 15%.
and that# is based on my results on the track in relation to the # put out by the dyno.+/- there are still some veriables on the % to some extent on the rest of the parts matching and tuning...what do other dyno % look like?let the persome throwing the stone justify himself! who do you represent?come forth and stand in the court!

Right, thanks Tony, I see it a conservative 15+% in some cases. Actually I'm ok with what I've just posted, I feel it does a good job explaining my point. Are you going to be upset with your converter maker because the data you gave him is wrong? And again will you be upset, disappointed, or confused if your power #'s are lower than MetalStorm's? Just as MetalStorm has summed up well...that dyno is good for debugging and tuning purposes. My only advise that comes to mind is to access the archieves here (moparts) on how to read your sparkplugs. And I'll wish you good luck for a safe, informative dyno session.

Is no one willing to consider that the quality of the machine work has an impact on what power a motor can produce?

Not bashing anyone, but I agree W/ a few of the previous posters, based on last 3 engines that have been posted coming from that dyno in last few weeks, it seems it is putting up #'s at least 15% high, actually probably closer to 16-17% after running some #'s here on my calculator, but hard to tell exactly. If Koffels does'nt care that it is putting up high #'s, that is their perogative. The only problem with a dyno putting up #'s that high (it's really just supposed to be used as a tuning tool), is that the owners of these engines end up taking a bit of a beating by people knocking the #'s being excessively high.

He did ask me not to post some things such as cylinder wall finish and stone used so as not to give away his secrets.

Why is it that when somebody point out facts it's bashing?
It's great Metal made improvements from his last set up but I also agree it's not right to misrepresent the numbers.
dont think i was trying to mislead any1 as i was just posting what was printed for discussion as we are having to analyse.i am trying to make sence of it as is every1 else.i asked what would effect the # as per data entry and was beyond my scope of understanding with all invalved.continue,please. do you think you will be able to resolve this here? now where is that person who and what are your cradentials and...?

after reading these posts i wonder why a few people seem to be so worked up over koffels dyno numbers.some kind of hidden agenda maybe? isn't koffel the one who was instrumental in the development of the B1 stuff and this new block i did a search of koffeis place and could not find one bad thing or one unsatisfied customer. the three engines in question seem to satisfy the owners and make them happy so what the heck. i don't think koffel needs to come on here and explain or dignify anything to anybody on this board . in fact have the main characters in this drama invented or developed or have a shop or done anything of note in the automotive world.i would like to hear about it.do they have any big wins or any records under their belts i believe its ridiculus to think koffel needs to do anything thats underhanded to steal buisiness from another shop just my

just my
in a nutshell, this is why people go to Koffels, maybe the numbers are high, but the numbers are'nt really why people go to koffels. Its their expertise and knowledge. Indy inflates numbers too, but at least with Scott & Dave you know the product and work is top notch.

Glad it's running and ready to drop in the car. Here is my take on dyno numbers. I have seen my motor vary in HP on 2 different dyno's by about 10%. One showed 830 hp, the other showed 775. I spent the entire season looking for ET that would never be there. Once I sorted out out some problems and dynoed it for a 3 time and picked up 75 hp on the "stingy" dyno, the car ran exactly what it should run for the HP it had. The motor made 850 "corrected" hp on a super cool pull, 830 at normal operating temp. IMO I want the numbers as accurate as they can be, then I don't waste a lot of time looking for ET that will never be there. To all the nay-sayers that don't think ET calculators work, mine runs exactly what it should from the HP it showed on the dyno. This is with the Moroso power speed calculator and the ones on the wallace site. Go to this calculator, use my sig times @ 3000# and see what you come up with.
