Putting a 3.54 in the place of a 6.50
Will I need a different carrier? Would it have been possible to run that gear on what was originally a 3.54 carrier if it had a ring gear spacer?
thanks
Jess

Yeah, it's hopped up to over 160...

Up to 4:10 on the small carrier. Then you have to add a spacer to go with a larger gear or go with the larger carrier. See if you have the spacer now, if you do just remove it.

4.56 is usually the cutoff for the carrier, that ratio and anything numerically higher have a thinner ring gear and need a carrier for those ratios or a .188" ring gear spacer.

If the carrier you now have mounts the 6.50 ring gear without a spacer you will need a different carrier for the 3.54's.
