What should the stock fan blade for a 64 sport fury look like? Right now it has a 17.5 in. dia. fixed four blade fan. The car will overheat if I let it set long enough at idle. I hope no one tells me what I have is correct. The car was a 383 and someone put a 440 in it. The car does not have a fan shroud.

I really wanted to switch to a clutch fan from a later model to gain back some power however I do not have enough room between the water pump and the radiator. I know there are a lot of opinions on here so if you have a fan you like that would work for my application let me know.

Changing fans won't do any good until you get a shroud on the radiator.

Sounds like they kept the same small radiator after going to a 440. I would switch to an aluminum rad..

Where did you get your rad?

Thanks for the information guys! I knew a shroud was a good idea; i just dont want to spend a couple hundred dollars to get one. Although it may be cheaper than a new rad depending on what kind I pick.

hey Fury, I have a 7-blade 18" fan I am not using. Pick up a shroud for $100- maybe less and this combo will work great. PM if you want it.

There is a repop metal shroud available for the 64 fury....Mancini carries one but I'm not sure on the real source...An original 64 Max Wedge car had a clutch fan but it was shorter than anything available over the counter now...There was also a 65 clutch fan available that was very short but I can't remember the application...The parts store jaguar fan clutch that everyone is using {for tight clearance} might fit in there depending on how much room you actually have between there... I have an old style 7 blade fixed I use occasionally for parade duty but it sounds like an airplane prop when you wind up the engine...

I have been trying to convince myself to buy mancini's re pop shroud. They are proud of it$$$$

I will check into the jaguar fan clutch. Thanks for all of the information everyone.

My bud's 64 has no fan shroud and has a hard time getting up to 180. He does have a clutch fan.

Allen Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first. Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.
