Among the ground issues inside my 73 Charger I've got an annoyance at the driver's side caliper where the brake hose bolts to it. I've replaced the copper washers on the hose 4 times and didn't see anything pitted where the washer sits. I've tightened it plenty enough, but it will not quit leaking from there. It's kinda hard to install the hose on when you put the caliper on so I don't know if it's an alignment isssue everytime. But I've replaced the caliper because I thought it might have a bad spot where the copper washer seats but even with another reman caliper and new set of washers it's still leaking just as much. What's the trick to these?

some of the copper washers are "harder" then others.
You may wish to go purchase a new set from some other maker.

Is this a banjo fitting? or just a straight through hose?

If it is a banjo, are you sure you have the right through bolt? And not to insult you, but a washer on each side?

Could also be a crack or some other problem with the brass block of the hose too.

Also check that the copper washer is thick enough. Some of the aftermarket parts are too thin.

and if they are thick enough to be above the recess & are still leaking might get some of the ribbed oe ones either a used set from a junkyard or there's a part # for them new if it's still a good #.

I got caught with this one time with seal washers that weren't thick enough. I ended up buying a bag of 100 from the dealership.

That's weird because the passenger side isn't leaking or the rear and I changed all of that at the same time too. My local dealer does have the original washers but they want $3.80 each so I can afford a pair but I don't know about a bag. I don't think they have a bag of 100 anyway. All this stuff is happening and I haven't even gotten to take it on the first run after finishing everything. I still got to figure out the puzzling grounding issue under the dash, I hopefully got the transmission pan gasket fixed with a new Fel-Pro gasket, then I washer out all the spilled transmission fluid and now I see a small dime sized puddle of engine oil that formed just sitting. It's still going to be awhile before I get this thing on the road and then I'm sure there's more surprises when I drive it.
