I just recieved a set of seatbelts from PG Classics. My question/ Concern is this.
The flyer in the package state verbatum
"ALL seat belts manufactured by PG Classics or BE/A Restoration Parts, inc. and /or distributed their dealers are for static display and not intended as a DOT certified & tested safety device."
NO I did not miss the "by" after distributed. They did.

Would you install these on a car that is a very nice show/driver? These are for a customers car. Nowhere in the catalogue does this disclamer appear.
I am not knocking the belts. They look nice and seam to work correctly. Just no DOT certification.
I will probably have to have the customer sign a release. I will check with my attorney

Some reproduction gas caps, steering wheels etc. have similar disclaimers. It's "CYA" for the reproducers.

Who would be liable if a 40 year old seat belt failed?
