Does anybody know where I can get this done at in Oregon or elsewhere? I'm in Portland.

I may go to the guy in Cottage grove (www.4secondsflat.com), but thought I would ask here first.

I just got the engine running in my truck, 80 D150 w/76 hood and grill, 440, AT. The machinist who assembled my longblock suggested a dizzy recurve; Comp 268XE cam,452 heads, stifffer springs, 9.0 to 1 comp, elderbrock rpm, holley 750,balanced, 2800 stall ....
Vacuum secondaries seem to not be kicking in, still need to run (after I get some exhaust) to see if opening to determine if I need to change secondary springs. (truck has some god awfull highway gearing...WAY too high speed to get RPMs up)

The guys at Grays Automotive in Tigard have an old distributor machine. If you call around you can find a few older shops who still have distributor machines. It is expensive to have a shop recurve a Mopar distributor though. It takes a bunch of time to take one apart, weld up the plate, put it back together, etc. Probably cost less to just buy a new distributor.

I wanted to drill/tap and use 2 setscrews into the ends of the plate so I could rotate the housing/remove the vac can and adj the slots by limiting the travel but I couldn't find a bit hard enough . Anybody have a suggestion on one that'd might work?

FBO has a plate that limits how much advance, 4 settings: locked out,10,14,18 degrees. Takes approx 5 minutes to install.

FBO kit is well worth the coin. A performing engine needs its base time set for a quicker curve , with a tail up at the high end.

A dremel tool can enlongate the slots to give a few more degrees for the in between.

secondaries don't open until it is driving , pulling a load. Also don't just throw the yellow 2ndary spring in. The engine needs to pull against that spring to produce velocity. The holleies need to be set up , then they rock out.

use a vacuum advance distributor.

Don does his know stuff, so a curve or use the kit is probably a good way to go.

I don't see what good it is to buy another distributor, unless you buy an adjustable mp one, and then, you still need to know what you want to set it to, and how to check it with a dial back light.

The kits he sells are decent. I don't know about a 5 minute install, but it is fairly basic. Again, you have to know what you want to set it to.
