I need to ask for some help from my fellow Mopar enthusiast, I am sure what I am going to ask has been asked at least once in the months / years moparts have been around.

I own a 1970 Coronet 440 and I want to make it into a R/T clone. Yes I know some may frown at this; however, one - I cannot ever escape the VIN number and two - my thoughts are that I like to build it as if I was going to buy it new. Anyhow, what I am looking for is what I would need to change from the 440 to make it a R/T Clone...for example the side scoops (which I have) and the tail panel and rear lights.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

440's usually had the side molding you will have to remove and of course fill the holes. The interior was nicer on the R/T's I belive they would of had the Charger style dash.

Some background.

The Super Bee is based on the 440 model.

The R/T is based on the 500 model.

Other than the emblems, scoops and hood an R/T is externally the same as a Coronet 500. The R/T also used the same upholstery patterns and dash inlay pattern as the 500.

Therefore to cosmetically change a 440 into an R/T you would need to remove the 440 trim and emblems (as mentioned above), change the tail panel, change grille color (I think), change hood, change door pannel, change seats upholstery, change dash inlay and change to a 150 speedo (or change to a rally dash).

Chack out this site for lots of great pictures for reference. http://www.andy440.com/

You will also need to add the upper woodgrain trim to the tops of the doors. If it were me I would keep the standard dash (as carmak said)and just find a 150 sweep style speedo as that will save some money the ralley dash was an option on RT's so you could order it that way. Some of the RT specific trim parts can get pricey compared to the more common Superbee trim which is pricey as well, but if thats what you want I say do it.

You will also need the trunk lid deck trim to match tail panel...

Std hood was a Power Bulge Bee hood.. also.. and the 500 Model and R/T shared the same Interior..
the R/T had a R/T emblem above the glove box..also as I said in the other post.. Std dash was a 150 sweep.. Tach was an option also..

Wheel trim would also be Std on R/T

But both would have been 150

I originally was going to do the bee hence why I bought the 440, but then over the years as I collected tools and parts I changed my mind. Anyhow besides they badging and trim on the outside of the car it looks like it is mainly interior options?

yes, I'd just do the best you can w/ the exterior and leave the 440 interior. 80% of the people won't know the difference.
