I've got the same crazy stuff going on, but with Mallory 140 pump. I've tried both of my pumps and a brand new regulator, and all new lines from front to back. Even have different carb on it now. Same thing!
Preasure can be fine one moment and next it is low, or high. Set the regulator, and then it will be different again, in 5 minutes. Not just a pound or so, but 2 or 3 pounds different. And no, it's not the guage!!!!! Guage is mounted 4 feet from the engine, where I can see it, too.
I'll try my holley blue pump next....maybe my mallory pumps are just worn out?
I give up!

I'm betting cavition, gas is very hard to suck and pump and changes with temperture. Most installations don't have a large enough inlet line or are configured wrong to insure against cavition. My

10-micron filter before the pump is too small, it'll lead to cavitation.
100-micron before the pump, 10-micron after.
Don't ask me how I know.

You might check to see if the vent is clogged. Just something from Aeromotive website. Also here is something else that Aeromotive discusses in one of their Tech bulletins. http://aeromotiveinc.com/2010/01/fuel-filtration/They frown on pre pump filters. I know that when Kyle was there he told me NOT to use any filter before the pump. I filter the fuel as I put it in the tank. I have the A-2000 pump set @ 25 psi at the pump bypass, then regulate it down with the A-4 regulator. HTH's.. Chris...

Pretty much what I have been saying, no filter before the fuel pump. Strain the fuel while adding to the fuel cell and never leave the cap off for long.
