Couple questions:

1) What is the best friction modifier to use and where to obtain it

2) Are the axle "pins" required if you are running green bearings?

I am sorry if these questions seem dumb; I am new to sure grips and am updating from a 2.76 open to 3.23 posi.

Thanks!

You can get a friction modifier at NAPA or carquest that works fine.
Thrust pins not needed with green bearings.

Clean it, if it's Dirty. Oil it, if it Squeaks. But: Don't fix it, if it Works!

The last sure grip (with clutches) I used the generic transX brand additive with 90-140 Valvoline conventional gear lube and it is working fine with no noise..
The fresh Dana in my other car has the superstinky Mopar additive, that I belive is now discontinued..or banned by EPA....

Dr. Diff often suggests the Furd stuff. I picked up a bottle inexpensively at the dealer. It is extremely foul smelling.

Maybe this is a northern Michigan thing...but posi is short for positive traction.

Oh ok. That`s a GM or Ford term. In the Mopar world it`s called a sure-grip.

The pin in the center with the buttons on the end are to let you adjust the end play in the axels for bearing pre load. If you have the New Style green bearings then the pin and buttons are not needed

I just used some of that in the Dana for my wife's Barracuda. VERY foul smelling indeed! I did not know such a small package could contain that kind of stink!
