Pulled my 5.9 magnum out and put in a new cam. Went to go prime the engine but I'm not getting any oil to a few cylinders, #1 being one of them. Any idea on what I might have done wrong? I've tried rotating the engine 90* at a time, priming while the crank is moving...can't seem to get any oil there. I'm spinning the drill clockwise, is that correct on the magnum motors?

Have you checked too make sure that the pushrods aren't stopped up.I would have suggested turning the motor while priming the engine but you have already done that.

New pushrods, but to eliminate that I switched em around with ones that were getting oil and no luck.

How do the lifters get oil on these motors...maybe I have a plugged oil passage?

As you are priming, you should be slowly rotating the crank clockwise a few turns. This will help expose the oil passages to fill everyone up.

Did you get someone too spin the motor while you are priming,if not try this and really spin the pump too get the pressure up.

No need to rotate the eng as they dont lube from lining up the cam passages like an older LA. Take off the offending cyls' rockers/pushrods & spin the drill CW like you did & see if those particular lifters are oiling out the top

mags oil thru the roller lifter/pushrod to the rockers

pushrods are hollow,correct????

check you lifters,I had a few apart on mine and they had a good amount of carbon/grit/dirt??? in them, some were pumped up solid and stuck with a lot of gunk in them..sorrta made it a solid lifter

high milage used ones, they had a tick to them before I opend and cleand them all

now they are good to go and no ticks

took a few mins of run time..maybe 10 mins to get the air completly pumped out on fire up with the new roller cam

cleaned all 16 and they were dry till I primed and did the fire up
