Anyone using the MSD street fire?

Good/bad - just for a cruiser, looking for faster starts and smooth idle.

got them on my satellite, which at this point has about .025 miles on it from pulling in and out of my driveway Seem like a good wire that's better than what's offered from autozone, but definitely not the same as a race set (which you end up re-cabling the ends on anyway)

I have one, well the Summit one but its the same thing. I have had no problems at all, but my idle didn't improve and I couldn't notice a difference.

Just realized that my post did not mention I was looking at the ignition box...

So no idle improvements eh!

Don't know about the street fire but I installed an msd6al on my 440 charger mainly for the rev limiter as I am good at missing gears.I really like it and seems too make the motor more responsive at low speeds, but if running factory tach as I am you have too buy a tach adapter.

Running an aftermarket sun-pro or the likes, we'll see when it gets here. I guess.

Thanks

If your car is already running right you won't notice a difference. I do like the rev limiter though.

I think you need at least the 6a to get the hotter multiple sparks. Is the street fire capacitive discharge? As in does it have dedicated wires to the coil that shoot a lot of juice for each spark, or does it have a 12 or less volt constant hot soaking the field then collapsing it with a ground switch?

I can say that when I went to 6al my mild hot rod started instantly instead of just well, and the idle was noticably smoother. I even noticed a difference when I overkilled a slant six truck motor with a 6a and blaster coil. (the lean burn died and I had msd stuff on the shelf- already paid for=free...)

Anyway, good luck.

I also had the mallory 6a and the stock, streetfire, and mallory all ran the same.

Any mods to the motor? I've always heard the multi-spark boxes were better for cleaning up the idle/low rpm range on a motor with a bigger cam.

Stock 318 with headers.

It idles pretty good now, just looking for smooth idle and fast starts especially when it is hot.

And yeah the Street fire is multiple spark with dedicated wires to the coil...not just a single pull down like the stocker.
