Im going to be restoring a T/A clone car here soon, and have been talking with some people that the hood hinges/springs are different from a T/A compaired to regular hood hinges..
Can anyone guide me as to where to get some hinges/springs that will be good enough for the hood as to not break it??
Does anyone out there make any T/A style hood hinges/springs??

Thank you

The springs used on the T/A's and AAR's were.are light tension springs.

As for different hinges i never heard of that.

There is different hinges based on the years in e-body's but not from different models.

If i remember correctly 70 e-bodies are different from 17-74 hinges. I think the difference was the size of the bolts used on the hoods. But they should all be interchangable. But it might not be correct if you are going for 100% details on your clone
Thank you

He is right the 70's used a smaller bolt to the hood and I believe the later models even went to a geared lever action.

There is a guy (I think Resto Rick) who rebuilds them and can add much better details.

As for the hinges, they are the same as the steel hood hinges, it is the springs that are the difference. Along that same lines if your going for perfection the AAR springs were 1 or two coils different than the T/A springs. I am not sure which one is the style reproduced.

5/16" bolt size on the 70.
Narrower top strap.
All same size rivets.
Tooth style.

Yes I rebuild them.

I have a couple pairs of new TA hood springs available.

Rick

Thanks for politely correcting me on the gear teeth.
