BIG question...
with the ignition box, do I still need the 5 pin ECU along with it or not ?

Dan

Nope, the directions are confusing but you don't need the 5 pin ECU, the ballast resistor can be tossed out also.

You just have to hook up the mag pickup wires to the dist, the coil wires go to the...coil, heavy wires to the battery, and the one that turns the box on goes to the MIF wire.

If it starts but runs terribly rough, reverse the polarity on the distributor wires. The instructions are not too clear on this and I found out the hard way. Easy fix though.

I had an HI-6, and IIRC, thw wiring was way similar to msd 6al, so there should be some diagram sources on internet somewhere....

Here's what worked for me: (Mopar electronic ignition distributor, magnetic pickup output, year unknown)

From Crane Hi-6 wiring harness there is a twisted pair lead, connect violet (+) to grey on distributor, green (-) to black on distributor.

Huge improvement in idle quality and seems to start a little better. Difficult to time due to multiple spark. Overall a very good modiication and it has worked well for me!

What is wrong with this diagram.

I have never had a problem timing mine and use a dial back light and set total timing. I have not noticed a bit of difference in run quality or performance gain over my home recurved Mopar set up with a chrome box. IMO it was a bunch of money spent needlessly. Only thing that I gained was a rev limiter.

What page are you questioning? What were you expecting as far as improvements in performance?

The Hi-6 box gives a multiple spark at lower RPM's then defaults to a single spark as the RPM increases. Noticeable improvements sould be pretty much limited to better starting and better ignition at idle/lower RPM. High speed operation will be pretty much the same as a standard ignition. At least that's what I noticed with my installation.
