Hello!

I have a '62 Dart (B-body Dart) that originally came with a slant six. I am buying a '66 Coronet V8 four-door parts car for the rear end and some other stuff. I'm wondering, will the K-member also swap? Some folks say all B-bodies are the same, others say '62-'65 is different from '66+. Thanks!

-Andrew

The engine will mount further to the rear with the later K. You might run into some clearance problems at the firewall.

Uh-oh.

Thanks a ton for the insight. If that's the case, then the trans mount won't bolt up, the kickdown & exhuast could get goofy, etc. Especially with a big block. I was thinking about Schumacher, but I see even they don't have a kit for this one. I guess I'm stuck with searching forever for a '62-'65 V8 K-member. Thanks for letting me know before I spent a week trying to get it to all fit together!

I've put several late K-members in '62 B bodies and it moves the motor back 1 5/8". This allows more fan/radiator clearance and allows the use of later B body headers and oil pans. 3-piece throttle pressure linkage clears the firewall OK, the only problem is the transmission mount.

Also you will need to do some sheetmetal "massaging" in the floor tunnel and the pinch weld where the tunnel meets the firewall needs to be hammered flat.

I run a 69 kmember in my 64. As said, it moves the motor back.

There are some mods needed, but it does make stuff easier. Especially if transplanting a big block. The later mount brackets are much easier to find

Wow, thanks a ton for all the help, guys! Every time I get in a jam, folks here get me sorted out again. I only hope that someday I'll know enough to help someone else in return!
