I have a SB (mild) Dart drag car with a PG and a TransBrake .The convertor is suppose to be about 3500 stall .I usually leave at about 3000 droping the throttle as i release the button.I have had sum tell me that i should be sticking it on the mat and then drop the button. Will it hurt the convertor if the motor is bogging against it?Its a Neal Chance unit .I realise that traction may become an issue if i do this ,but will it hurt anything in the trans to let it bog when the convertor runs out of stall ?I have ran it up to 4000 and i didnt hear a bog at that point ,but i didnt leave that high either .It was just a test to see if it would bog .I do not have a 2 step box ...

Why not use a two step, that way you can taylor your launch rpm where you want it and not fully against the converter.

The engine will go up against the converter... wont
hurt anything but dont think you can keep it there
for prolonged periods of time... it builds heat....
I go up against the conv on every pass(5600 rpm)
And yes if you are going to the floor as you let go
of the button you are NOT making the torque for coming
off the line.... put a chip in the MSD 2 step and go
to the floor and let the rev limiter take care of the
RPM

Alot of Nostalgia events i attend do not allow any electronics .A couple dont even allow the brake ,but the ones that do dont allow 2 steps or any electronics ...

I would not recomend going all the way up on the Conv. It could lay it over. I think doing that is what killed mine.

I would install a 2 step (3 step would be better) and chipping the luanch. That way you can mat the throttle and not hurt it

ok then do as Mike said, just don't sit on it very long,,won't hurt the converter but they heat up quick, I run a trans brake and I mat it between the top and second bulb, and will be on the two step for only a split second, but if you are running a .400 pro tree it's a little hard to do that.
