Hi all, I am just beginning the restore of the tail panel on my '68 GTX. I have stripped off all the old argent and reflective stripes on the panel and tail light pieces. It is now ready to mask and start painitng. I want to do this correctly and need a close up of painting details. If you have pics of a correctly finished one could you post them?
Also, any advice would surely be welcome!
I bought the Light Argent from Totally Auto and the reflective stripes from Performance Car Graphics.
Thanks in advance!

I think the light Argent is too light.
I got a can of both the light and darker Argent for mine....went with the darker one as it was just about dead on original colour.
Judging by the posts on here about '68 GTX trials and tribulations, there otta be some more experts out there.

Seems to be a real popular car lately.

I used the light argent from totally auto. Looks real close to the orignal argent on the panel. The 68 GTX grille is dark argent with light argent outer boarder.

Interesting...
I do have a can of each and will be doing color tests before I commit to spraying parts. I am not opposed to getting another brand if this color isn't correct.

Totally auto has the best argent paint for mopar trim parts. I see a lot of pic's of 68's with both, some are dark some are light. I beleive the light argent is the correct color for the finish panel. When you look at any old sales brochures the tail panel was light colored not dark. The grille is dark argent and the boarder around the grille was light argent.

Looks black to me. If that is in fact what it is, totally incorrect.

Grille should be a gray color similar to the 68-9 Chargers, with non textured argent accents.

Deck finish panel should be medium textured argent.

Maybe Paul Jacobs would be so kind to post some pics of these areas from the red 68 hemi GTX conv. he had at the nats last year.

How about it, Paul? Please?

One of the questions I have is, do the "Plymouth" letters get painted black on the inside or left alone to be covered in Argent or covered to paint and left bare?
I believe the "GTX" should be black except for the face of the letters which are left chrome?

I do know that my front grill is original and this is what the paint looks like (or what's left of it). The outer edge paint is gone leaving bare plastic.
